Become an Ambassador

In July 2018 tourism trade association ‘Tourism Swansea Bay’ has taken the lead on the project and it has been funded by the Welsh Government Sustainable Development Fund and support from the Gower Landscape Partnership. Tourism Swansea Bay aim to raise awareness of the ambassadors as well as putting their skills to good use. We have already had ambassadors greeting coaches of German cruise ship visitors to Rhossili, and engaging with visitors at events such as Gower Walking Festival, Gower Cycling Festival, Gower Show. They have also helped with looking after Gower by taking part in National Trust Beach Cleans and other conservation activity.

Many ambassadors are employed in visitor / customer facing roles putting their ambassador training to use as part of they day to day job.

To become an Ambassador you will need to complete the online training course, upon completion you will officially be a Gower Ambassador:

Gower Ambassadors Project

The Gower Ambassadors Project was originally instigated under the Gower Landscape Partnership programme, with further funding and support from Swansea Rural Development Partnership through the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government.  The project was delivered by Gareth Kiddie Associates.

Seeing the value in the ambassador scheme, Tourism Swansea Bay wanted to ensure they remained active and well utilised for the destination, local events and tourism trade. So, with funding from Welsh Government Sustainable Development Fund, they took on the project of coordinating the Gower Ambassadors in July 2018. Since then the programme has grown from strength to strength and is continuing to evolve and recruiting more ambassadors.
