Dune Scapes Workshop

Hannah Lee is visiting Gower from the Dynamic Dunescapes project (link below) and will be helping us to discover the dunes of the Gower.  With Hannah we’ll learn about what conservation is ongoing to protect, restore and rejuvenate the dunes, why sand dunes are so important and what risks they face.  We will begin with a short classroom-based talk inside the Gower Heritage Centre and then we will travel on foot to Penmaen Burrows to view the site and take a look at what is being done locally to manage the cliff top (perched dunes), from here we will also overlook Oxwich National Nature Reserve and discuss the work in this area and beyond

Please arrive promptly for 10am as we have a busy day planned and need to get started straight away to fit everything in.  Lunch will be provided and we aim to be finished on the dunes no later than 2:30pm (plus walking time back to the Heritage Centre, 3pm).  Please dress appropriately for the weather with sturdy footwear.
